N&W J 611 Backing up, ready for the excursion
Title:  N&W J 611 Backing up, ready for the excursion
Description:  After they finished assembling the train, 611 reversed down the main getting into position for her run up to the station. As she got past the crossing into the cooler, wetter air the steam started to hang so heavy the train nearly dissapeared! Unfortuniately I was unprepared for this so I was in the wrong position but it was quite a sight to see.

N&W J 611 at the "Y" in Front Royal
Title:  N&W J 611 at the "Y" in Front Royal
Description:  After much anticipation, N&W J 611 finally arrived at the Y in Front Royal, working hard to pull the trian slowly thru the sharp curve. A fairly large crowd of all ages watched with excitement lined up along the fence. As they slowed to a stop several of the safety valves popped as they prepared to pull forward thru the "Y".

N&W J 611 thru Marshall, VA
Title:  N&W J 611 thru Marshall, VA
Description:  Roads going along the tracks were challenging to keep up due to traffic and speed lmits as the 611 was making great time. We made it to Marshall, VA and had just enough time to take up position with the rest of the crowd under the careful watch of NS Police before she thundered past. From what we could gather it sounds like this spot had been a problem with people getting too close to (or on) the tracks last year.

N&W J 611 Returning to Manassas
Title:  N&W J 611 Returning to Manassas
Description:  At the end of the excursion, 611 coasted slowly past the spot where RT-28 used to cross the tracks. A few feet of the road remains next to the tracks and the shade of the overpass made it a pleasent place to wait for 611 to wrap up its trip pulling into Manassas.
